Products
BP-Cx-1
- Meabco’s product portfolio is based on the combination of
BP-Cx-1 and metal ions of known therapeutic potential. BP-Cx-1,
a globular polydentant ligand, is a refined natural substance,
based on acid polymers of the benzo-poly-carbonic family.
BP-Cx-1 is capable of chelating/encapsulating the metal ions,
and facilitates their uptake into cells.
BP-C1 -
The company
is currently finalizing protocol for Phase II (placebo) trial for its lead product,
BP-C1, in breast cancer patients. BP-C1 is based on a
combination of BP-Cx-1 and platinum. It contains approximately
100 times less platinum than ordinary doses of Cisplatin used in
chemotherapeutical drugs, resulting in a much enhanced safety
profile. At the same time, clinical efficacy is maintained or
improved due to the carrier effect of the polymer. Clinical
experience exists from both compassionate use in a number of
difference cancers (150 pts) and a Phase I/II trial in stage IV
breast cancer (17 patients). Very good efficacy data, with
response rates of >50%, and only mild side effects were observed,
and patients experienced improved general well being.
BP-C2
- The company’s second product is BP-C2, which is based on
BP-Cx-1 combined with molybdenum salts. BP-C2 is in preclinical
development for prevention of side effects arising from cancer
radiotherapy, nuclear radiation and irradiation at large.
