BP-C2
The company’s second product is BP-C2, which is
based on BP-Cx-1 combined with molybdenum salts. BP-C2 is in
preclinical development for prevention of side effects arising
from cancer radiotherapy, nuclear radiation and irradiation at
large.
Molybdenum is a known cofactor for several human
enzymes involved in the metabolism and breakdown of a number of
potential harmful substances in the body. Furthermore, BP-C2
acts as a scavenger of free radicals, and the BP-Cx-1 component
has important immune stimulatory effects.
Animal models have demonstrated that BP-C2 is
capable of significantly reducing mortality in mice subjected to
very high doses of radiation.
